Reiki Master/Teacher, Spiritual Teacher, Coach
Azure Darby
Azure’s background is in Clinical Social Work, having worked as a therapist with children/adolescents and families for nearly 20 years. She also spent the last 10+ years educating Masters level Social Work students as an Adjunct faculty member with the University of Southern California. She found the field of Social Work rewarding, yet incredibly taxing given the demands of the profession and her high level of sensitivity. This led to what some refer to as a “dark night of the soul” experience in 2010, including a bout with depression and anxiety. This prompted Azure to shift her focus onto her spiritual existence and explore this with great intention and dedication. It started with attending services at Agape International Spiritual Center and Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles on a weekly basis, taking intuitive development classes and then came Reiki! Azure started her Reiki journey in 2012 and became a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher in 2015. Reiki offered her not only a way to engage in self-healing, but also a means to serve and assist in the healing journeys of others without depleting her own energy. Over the years, she has acted as a vessel for the gift and healing benefits of Reiki, having provided this as a part of her therapeutic work and in metaphysical spaces in different cities in the U.S. including Las Vegas. Recently, Azure became attuned under a new lineage of Reiki, called Liberation Reiki. This was founded and developed by her best friend of nearly 30 years and focuses on energetic sovereignty. Liberation Reiki also encourages practitioners to move away from the tendency to approach Reiki as a commercialized and colonized intervention for wellness. It recognizes the importance of considering how people are both knowingly and unknowingly impacted by oppression and how that affects their respective healing journeys. As a practitioner of Liberation Reiki, Azure sees it as her duty to take this into account and facilitate experiences of healing that are not just rooted in the now, but also allow space for deeper ancestral healing. This practice also celebrates and makes space for marginalized groups, including BIPOC folks, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Azure identifies as an empath and loves helping others understand what that means and how being deeply sensitive can be seen as a spiritual gift. She also enjoys assisting people who are just starting on their own respective spiritual journeys by offering insight, tools and strategies. She knows she’s here to teach and serve others by sharing of her own experiences as she continues walking her own spiritual path and making sense of all that she learns along the way.

Kai
Somatic Practitioner
My name is Kai and I identify as a Queer Bilingual Mexican, a Dreamer, using they/she pronouns. I am a Trauma Informed Reiki and Somatic Practitioner. I was born in Mexico City and in the early 1990s my family immigrated to the United States. We lived in South Los Angeles for over 32 years and I recently moved to Long Beach. I have been an activist since an early age when my parents would take me to local protests and rallies as a child. My love for community engagement and activism led me to work with survivors of domestic violence, unhoused individuals, immigrants, and other underserved communities. Specifically, I am committed to working continuously with monolingual Spanish-speaking persons in various fields including supportive services around immigration, domestic violence, and mental health.
In 2018, I experienced transformative healing through Somatic Experiencing®, a body-oriented therapeutic modality that aims to resolve stress, shock, and trauma symptoms. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® in training Advanced Level. Amid the pandemic, I was introduced to Usui Reiki, an energy-healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. I am a Usui Reiki Practitioner Level II.
Most recently, I founded Corazón Somatic Care providing Somatic and Reiki services nationwide. I incorporate different elements of Somatic Experiencing® and Usui Reiki in therapeutic work with underserved communities that have historically not had access to these types of care. Due to my own life experiences, I am intimately familiar with the challenges of carrying trauma in the often insular communities.
